Corporate Cakes

A corporate cake has to read as professional in a photograph that will end up on a company channel. Branded cupcakes usually serve a standing room better than one cake, and both are ordinary work for most Australian makers.

Different rules

What corporate work actually needs

Corporate orders fail on logistics and brand accuracy far more often than on baking, and both are fixable at the brief stage.

  • Send the real logo file.A vector file or the highest resolution version you have, plus the exact brand colours. A screenshot from a website will print badly.
  • Count a standing room properly.People take one small piece at a launch and go back for another at a long event. Individual serves are easier to judge than a cut cake.
  • Delivery is to a building, not a home.Reception, a loading dock, a lift and a person who will sign. Give the maker a name and a mobile number.
  • There is usually an invoice.Purchase orders, ABN and payment terms are normal for corporate work. Raise it early so it does not delay the order.

What gets ordered

What businesses actually order

Branded work splits fairly evenly between one statement cake and individual serves in quantity.

Branded cupcakes

Individual serves with a printed or piped logo. The most requested corporate order, and the easiest to hand round.

Logo cakes and logo cupcakes

The brand mark rendered on a single cake or across individual serves, for a cutting moment or a photograph.

Company anniversary cakes

Marking years in business. Usually a number, a brand colour and a clean finish.

Product launch cakes

Built around a product shape, a campaign colour or a launch date. The most design-led corporate brief.

Logo cookies and small sweets

Iced cookies with a brand mark, often as a takeaway favour and not a dessert.

Staff celebration cakes

Farewells, promotions and team milestones. Warmer, less branded and usually needed at short notice.

Branding and numbers

What businesses ask first

Can you put a logo on a cake or cupcakes?

Yes. Edible printing is standard work and it is how most logo cakes and branded cupcakes are produced. Send a vector file or the highest resolution image you have along with the exact brand colours, and expect a small shift in the printed result, because edible inks do not reach the full range a screen does. For a very precise brand colour, hand-piped or hand-painted work sits closer than printing but costs more.

How many corporate cupcakes do I need?

Plan on one and a half per person for a short launch or a morning tea, and two or more for a long event or where the cupcakes are the only catering. Individual serves are much easier to judge than a cut cake in a standing room, and they avoid the awkward moment where nobody wants to cut first.

Do makers invoice businesses?

Most do, and corporate work is normal for the studios on this platform. Say in the brief that it is a business order and mention if you need a purchase order number, an ABN on the invoice or particular payment terms, because those are easier to arrange before the order than after it. Moments Worth Cake does not process payments; the arrangement is directly with the maker.

Logistics

Notice, delivery and dietary needs

How much notice do corporate orders need?

Two to three weeks is comfortable, and longer if the order is large or the branding has to be approved internally first. Branded work has a specific risk that other cakes do not: sign off. Get the logo file and the colours approved before you order rather than after the maker has started.

Can you deliver to an office?

Usually, and it beats carrying a decorated cake through a city at lunchtime. Give the building address, the floor, the reception details and a mobile number for somebody who will actually be there. Loading dock access and lift bookings are common in CBD buildings and are worth mentioning up front.

Can corporate orders cover dietary requirements?

Yes, and for a staff event it is worth asking for. Individual serves make this far easier than a single cake, because a batch can be made separately and labelled. Give the numbers for each requirement in the brief so they are quoted properly.
