How Moments Worth Cake collects, uses, shares and protects personal information, and what you can ask us to do with yours.
Last updated 11 September 2026. This policy explains how Moments Worth Cake handles personal information, and it applies to this website and to any cake brief you send through it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Who we are, and what we do
Moments Worth Cake is a discovery and enquiry platform. It helps people across Australia find cake makers, cake designers and dessert artists, and send them a description of a celebration so those professionals can respond. We do not bake, sell, price or deliver cake, and we take no payment for it.
What we collect
We collect the information you choose to put in a cake brief, which is:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number, where you give one;
- your suburb or postcode;
- the type of celebration, the date, the guest numbers and the venue or delivery area;
- what you would like made: servings, tiers, flavours, dietary requirements, style direction and any budget band you tell us;
- anything else you write in the brief.
The brief asks for a suburb or postcode rather than a street address, because that is all a cake professional needs in order to work out whether they cover you. You decide how much detail to include.
We also collect the ordinary technical information a website receives when you visit it, such as the pages you view, the approximate location your connection reports, the type of device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site. We use analytics tools to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. This information is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you.
Why we collect it
We collect personal information so that we can:
- connect your cake brief with cake professionals who cover your area and work in the style you described;
- allow those professionals to respond to you;
- reply to you about your enquiry;
- maintain, secure and improve the website.
If you do not provide the information the brief asks for, we may not be able to connect your request with anybody useful.
Who we share it with
Moments Worth Cake partners with My Event Match to process your cake request and connect it with suitable cake professionals in your area. By submitting your brief, your event details will be sent through My Event Match so relevant professionals can review the request and respond. There is no obligation to book.
The cake professionals who receive your brief are independent businesses. Once your brief reaches them, they handle your information under their own privacy practices, and any agreement you go on to make is between you and them.
We also use service providers who host this website and provide the tools that operate it. They may handle personal information on our behalf in order to provide those services.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your cake brief publicly, we do not list it anywhere on this website, and we do not provide it to advertisers.
We may disclose personal information where we are required or permitted to do so by law.
Marketing
If we send you marketing communications, every message will include a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing will not affect a cake enquiry you have already sent. You can ask us to stop at any time.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working correctly, to remember choices you make as you move between pages, and to measure how the site is used. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, and for as long as we are required to keep it by law. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or to remove the details that identify you.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within a reasonable period. In some cases we may need to keep information where the law requires it, and if we cannot act on your request we will tell you why.
To make a request about your personal information, send it through the enquiry form on this website and say clearly that it is a privacy request rather than a cake brief, so that it is handled as one.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your complaint, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
This website is intended for adults arranging a celebration. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated, and the current version is always the one published here.
