How it works

One brief, sent once, to the right people

Moments Worth Cake is a way to find cake makers, cake designers and dessert artists across Australia. It does not bake, sell or deliver cake, and it takes no payment for it.

The four steps

What actually happens after you send it

There is no account to create and no phone call to sit through. The whole thing is a description of your celebration and a set of replies.

  1. You describe the celebration

The occasion, the date, your suburb or postcode, roughly how many people, and what you have in mind for the cake. Two minutes of detail saves a week of messaging.

  2. The brief reaches suitable professionals

It goes to cake professionals who cover your area and work in the style you described, rather than to everybody on a list.

  3. They respond with what they would make

What they would build, whether they have your date, and what it would cost. A quote is against your brief, not a price list.

  4. You compare, and you choose

Or you choose nobody. You book and pay the maker directly, on their terms.

What a good brief carries

The five things that change every quote

  • The date and the address. Delivery, setup and travel change a quote more than most people expect, especially on a weekend or into a venue with restricted access.
  • Servings, not tin size. Say how many people need a slice. Tin sizes and tiers follow from that, and every maker portions a little differently.
  • Flavours and dietary needs. Gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan requests need to be raised first, not confirmed later.
  • Two or three reference images. Pictures communicate faster than adjectives. Say what you like about each one so it can be reinterpreted rather than copied.
  • A budget band. A range is enough. It lets a maker propose the strongest version of your cake at that level instead of guessing.

Where the brief goes

Who sees it, and who does not

This is the part worth reading before you send anything.

Your brief is processed through My Event Match.

Moments Worth Cake partners with My Event Match to process your cake request and connect it with suitable cake professionals in your area. By submitting your brief, your event details will be sent through My Event Match so relevant professionals can review the request and respond. There is no obligation to book.

It reaches professionals, not the public.

Your brief is not published on this website, not listed anywhere public and not sold to advertisers. It is shared so that cake professionals can respond to it.

You control what is in it.

Only include what you are comfortable sharing. The brief asks for a suburb or postcode rather than a street address, because that is all a maker needs to work out whether they cover you.

How personal information is handled is set out in full in the Privacy Policy, and the terms that apply to using this website are in the Terms of Use.

What this site is not

Three things worth being clear about

Not a cake shop

There is nothing to add to a cart and nothing to check out. Moments Worth Cake does not make, sell, price or deliver cake.

Not the maker's employer

Cake professionals are independent businesses. They set their own prices, lead times, service areas and terms, and your agreement is with them.

Not a ranking or a review site

There are no star ratings here and no paid placement in the responses you receive. You judge the responses on what is in them.

Common questions

The rest of it, answered

Does it cost anything to send a brief?

No. Sending a cake brief through this site is free, and there is no fee for receiving responses. You pay the cake maker you choose, directly, on their terms.

How many responses will I get?

It depends on your date, your suburb and what you have asked for. A wedding cake in a busy month in a capital city reaches more makers than a themed kids cake in a regional town on short notice. You may hear from several professionals, or from one who is genuinely right for the job. The site does not promise a number, because a number nobody can guarantee is worth nothing.

Am I committing to anything by sending a brief?

No. A brief is a request for information. You are not booking, not paying a deposit and not agreeing to anything. If none of the responses suit you, you do not have to reply to any of them.

Who do I pay, and when?

The cake maker, directly. Moments Worth Cake does not take payment for cake, does not hold deposits and is not a party to your booking. Deposits, balances, change windows and cancellation terms are set by the maker and agreed between you and them.

What if something goes wrong with my order?

Your agreement is with the cake maker, so raise it with them first. They made the cake, they set the terms and they are the ones who can fix it. If you want to tell us about your experience with a professional you found here, we want to hear it.

Can I ask for changes after I have sent the brief?

Yes, and it is better to do it early. Once a maker has quoted against a description, changing the servings, the date or the design changes the quote. Send the new detail to the maker you are talking to rather than starting again.
